Pro 1070 Rally scheduled for Saturday in Phoenix.

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

SB 1070 supporters have scheduled a rally in the sanctuary city of Phoenix for Saturday June 5 to counter the protesters flowing in from other states. The event will be directly across from the State capitol.

The event is being sponsored by Russel Pearce and Senatorial Candidate J.D. Hayworth will be hosting a fundraiser and barbecue directly after.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer is currently in Washington and is expected to discuss the matter of the 1200 National Guard troops that the President proposed for the border. It was revealed that the administration assured the Mexican President, who respects the Constitution—including Article IV., Section 4—that they will not be armed and only there to fill administrative roles.

It is not clear if the Arizona Governor scheduled reading classes for Janet Napolitano and Eric Holder who have pledged not to take any action to support the measure that they have not read.

A Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday shows most Americans support the tough immigration law adopted by Arizona in April, but it appears unlikely a similar measure would gain traction in Connecticut.

Confirming results from other national polls on the issue, 51 percent of voters surveyed in the Quinnipiac poll approved of the Arizona law, while 31 percent disapproved.

Most polls show support for the Arizona anti-illegal immigration law at about 69%.

The White House on Thursday confirmed it tried to coax a second candidate out of a Democratic Senate primary race, this time saying it discussed the possibility of three USAID jobs with Andrew Romanoff, who is running against an administration-favored incumbent in Colorado.

Mr. Romanoff on Wednesday night made public an e-mail from a White House aide that outlined several positions that would be available to him if he dropped his challenge to freshman Sen. Michael Bennet, who has the support of President Obama. The former Colorado House speaker said he was not promised a job by the White House and made it clear he intended to stay in the race.
