Mexico to join suit against Arizona

Friday, June 25th, 2010

After Obama used Clinton to announce that he was suing Arizona, we learn that Mexico is joining the lawsuit. They entered an amicus curiae brief asking judges to abandon their oath to the Constitution to continue to allow illegal activity.

BBC News reported,

It also requires police to question people about their immigration status, if officers suspect the person is in the US illegally, and if they have stopped them for a legitimate reason.

The Mexican government submitted arguments as a “friend of the court”, or amicus curiae, meaning it is not a party to the case, but is offering a legal opinion which it believes has bearing on it.

It is in support of a case brought by a group of civil rights organisations, including the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, the National Immigration Law Center, and the American Civil Liberties Union.

The Internet is a dangerous place--Joe Lieberman

To scumbag politicians

The US senators pushing a controversial new bill that some fear would give President Barack Obama the powers to seize control of and even shut down the internet have rejected claims it would give Obama a net “kill switch”.

The bill, titled Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act, has been unanimously approved by the US Homeland Security committee and will be put to a vote on the Senate floor shortly.

Reward offered for information on person starting Schultz Fire

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Flagstaff, AZ – The U.S. Forest Service is seeking information concerning the person or persons responsible for causing the Schultz Fire, which has cost nearly $3 million in suppression costs.

The Forest Service is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

The Schultz fire was caused by a campfire that was abandoned without being properly extinguished in the area of Schultz Tank, Little Elden Trail, and Forest Road 420.

The fire has spread to 14,800 acres and is currently 40% contained. The expected containment date is July 2. The 3800-acre Eagle Rock fire is considered 90% contained and poses no threat to visitors to Williams. Highway 89 through Flagstaff and 64 are apparently still open.

Please call the Schultz Fire Investigations hotline at (928) 527-3508 if you have any information.

Don’t Tread on Me (2010) Movie Review

“God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. … And what country can preserve its liberties, if it’s rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure”—Thomas Jefferson, Letter to William Stephens Smith, quoted in Padover’s Jefferson On Democracy

While some may not agree with everything in this film (Obama won’t, of course), this is a good overview of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights by advocates of freedom and liberty.

Blogojevich goes on trial, tapes heard.

Friday, June 25th, 2010

The corruption trial of ousted Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich — for allegedly trying to sell President Barack Obama’s own Senate seat — is a distant but unwelcome headache for the White House.

While Obama hasn’t been accused of wrongdoing, nor have his allies, top administration aides have now been subpoenaed to testify. After court adjourned Wednesday, Blagojevich’s attorneys filed a motion asking to see the FBI’s summaries of interviews agents conducted with Obama.

And Obama already has many other problems — from the Gulf oil spill to the economy — in what is also a tough congressional election year.
