Arizona Propositions pamphlet

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Word is reaching us via email that some have not received the ballot pamphlet from the government. This is not surprising. It can be downloaded from the Arizona Secretary of State web site. You can download it from our site here. We recommend that you right click the link and select Save Link As to your computer.

We, also, recommend that your read the wording carefully. Read all comments for and against. Make sure that you take the time to get to the polls. That is how Jan Brewer got the tax increase for Arizona, why businesses can no longer run their own affairs and why you should consider Barry Hess for governor.

The polls are open early in the morning to late in the evening. You can take the time to vote. You may think it does not matter if you vote. But it certainly does not matter if you do not vote. You are allowing others to dictate your life.

Iranian, Chinese Computers Also Discovered to Have Been Hacking D.C. Internet Voting System

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Startling testimony offered by the U. of Michigan computer science professor whose team penetrated D.C.’s ‘pilot program’ server for what was to have been a live election beginning in just days…

A University of Michigan computer scientist and his team were not the only ones attempting to hack the Internet Vote scheme that Washington D.C. had planned to roll out for actual use with military and overseas voters in this November’s mid-term election.

According to testimony given to a D.C. City Council committee last Friday by J. Alex Halderman, asst. professor of electrical engineering and computer science at University of Michigan, hackers from Iran and China were also attempting to access the very same network infrastructure, even as his own team of students had successfully done so, taking over the entirety of the Internet Voting system which had been opened for a first-of-its-kind live test.

Chandler police arrest man in stabbing, decapitation

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Chandler police are investigating the bizarre case of a man who was stabbed, decapitated and left in a pool of blood in a central city apartment.

One man has been arrested and police are seeking three more suspects in what may the city’s first beheading.

“We don’t go to many cases where the victim has been decapitated,” said Chandler Police Det. Frank Mendoza.

The man police arrested in the case, Crisantos Moroyoqui, 36, is an undocumented immigrant who lived across the way from the murder scene. He rented a bed for $100 a month in a small apartment shared by five other day laborers. He had lived there three months, his roommates said Monday.

School settles laptop spying case to “protect taxpayers”

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

By Jacqui Cheng

The school district accused of spying on students at home via laptop webcam has agreed to settle two student lawsuits for a total of $610,000. The Lower Merion School District board of directors released a statement Tuesday morning, saying that it decided to settle in order to move on and “protect the interests of our taxpayers,” even if that meant not being able to share its own side of the story.

The webcam issue first came to light in February when high school student Blake J. Robbins was disciplined by his assistant principal for engaging in “improper behavior” while at home—the evidence for which was apparently a photograph from the built-in webcam on his school-issued laptop. Once the Robbins family filed its class-action lawsuit against the district, the FBI began investigating the case as well to see whether the school had broken any federal wiretap laws.

Following a court order to preserve the webcam images from the district’s 2,300 student-issued laptops, the Robbins’ updated their claims, saying that the school took more than 400 photos of Blake in his room (some while he was “partially undressed”). Additionally, they said the school took “thousands” more pictures of other students in their homes, or in some case screenshots of private IM conversations.

US Dollar: Deja Vu Doom

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Bearish sentiment for the dollar sends a familiar message

It is definitely NOT easy being green these days, particularly when said color pertains to the US greenback. Right now, the dollar is treading the waters of an 8-1/2 month low against a basket of the world’s leading currencies.

As far as many mainstream experts can see, continuing to hold tight to a bullish case for the dollar is akin to the captain of the Titanic going down with his sinking ship. Consequently, in the week ending October 5, 2010, speculators boosted bets against the dollar to $30 billion — yes, billion — the largest shorting of the buck since June 2008, according to the October 6 Commodity Futures Trading Commission report.
