Donald Trump Injects Self Into 2012 Talk
(NewsCore) – Donald Trump said in an interview Thursday that he is considering running as a Republican for president in 2012 and will make a decision by June of next year.
“Well I tell you, I am thinking about things,” the business mogul and reality television star told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on “Good Morning America.”
“It could be fun because I’d like to see some positive things happen for the country,” he said.
“I am a Republican, I would run as a Republican, yes,” Trump, 64, responded when asked by the ABC host which party primary he would run in.
Trump briefly flirted with the idea of running on the Reform Party ticket in 2000 before deciding against it.
Asked about one potential rival in the Republican primary — former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin — Trump had kind things to say about her, before making it clear that her entry into the race would not stop him from competing against her.
“She’s very interesting and do not underestimate her,” Trump said. “I like her, but I’d take her on.”
