Freedomtorch reached the 10,000 member mark today at around 5 pm. I was on hand for the event. The announcement reads:

Let’s give a warm welcome to our 10,000th member, Glen Davis! And a huge thank you to all of you who are helping to get the word out every day! Interestingly Glen is from Arizona which is where our very first member is from! Todd Kalivoda was the very first FreedomTorch member and Todd is from the Phoenix area. It’s quite fitting that our 1st and our 10,000th member would come from the state that most upholds the Constitutional values we FreedomTorchers believe in!
This was by design, of course. I waited for days checking the stats until I could finally sign in. I was so intent, in fact, that I did not check all of the rules. I understand that I gave up a significant sum of money. Not to worry. I currently hold the winning lottery ticket. The cashier assured me.
I can now roam the streets and kick the tires, so-to-speak, and let you know a little more about the product as time goes on. The first impression is that there are a lot of friendly people there. There are jokes and informative posts. You can make blog entries, join forums and groups, and make a lot of friends with conservative values.
You can set up your own groups and forums for local groups, such as TEA parties or political parties. You can add photographs and basically everything that you can do on Facebook. And liberals are not banned.
I do caution that it is not censored as Facebook is. I noticed today that when I post certain content on Facebook, there can be a lengthy lull before it actually posts. That could be Internet server related or they could be checking to see if they want to post it. Posts on Freedomtorch post quickly. The point is that you should make sure “younger viewers” in your household are mature enough for the content. Think of it as a PG-13 rating.
You can still go to Freedomtorch as a non-member and view the content, the videos, blog entries, and such, before you decide to join. If you do, make sure you tell your friends. Let’s see who gets the coveted 20K slot.
