Terrence Lakin, The Army Birther, Is Sentenced To Six Months

Lieutenant Colonel Terrence Lakin, the doctor known as the “army birther” after he refused to deploy into Afghanistan because he questioned President Obama’s legitimacy, has received sentencing in his trial. He will receive six months in a military prison and, perhaps more importantly to the 17-year veteran, dismissal from the Army.

{This is considerably lighter than what could have happened to him. He faced 18-years in prison.}

    No, that’s not right. The jury had the option of confining him for up to 3 years. The charges originally carried 3 1/2 years, but Mr. Puckett persuaded the judge that two of the specifications were similar enough that they should not be punished separately, and the judge reduced the maximum time to 3.

    But still, 6 months was not nearly as long as it could have been.
