Republicans have introduced H. R. 359, To reduce Federal spending and the deficit by terminating taxpayer financing of presidential election campaigns and party conventions.
The Bill would amend Chapter 95 of subtitle H of the IRS code to terminate the donations made on income tax forms and transfer funds collected to the general fund.
The bill, sponsored by Representative Tom Cole (OK-4), is similar to House Resolution 54 and has 20 cosponsors; none from Arizona.
