There is something so far-fetched and so extravagant in the idea of danger to liberty from the militia, that one is at a loss whether to treat it with gravity or with raillery; whether to consider it as a mere trial of skill, like the paradoxes of rhetoricians; as a disingenuous artifice to instil prejudices at any price; or as the serious offspring of political fanaticism. Where in the name of common-sense, are our fears to end if we may not trust our sons, our brothers, our neighbors, our fellow-citizens? What shadow of danger can there be from men who are daily mingling with the rest of their countrymen and who participate with them in the same feelings, sentiments, habits and interests? What reasonable cause of apprehension can be inferred from a power in the Union to prescribe regulations for the militia, and to command its services when necessary, while the particular States are to have the SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE APPOINTMENT OF THE OFFICERS? If it were possible seriously to indulge a jealousy of the militia upon any conceivable establishment under the federal government, the circumstance of the officers being in the appointment of the States ought at once to extinguish it. There can be no doubt that this circumstance will always secure to them a preponderating influence over the militia.—Alexander Hamilton, Federalist Paper No. 29, Concerning the Militia
In a 2008 article at the RAW Story web site, Craig Johnson, an associate professor at Point Loma Nazarene University, took place in a demonstration against expanding the border fence. He alleged that the border patrol was taking license plate numbers more than a mile away from the border.
Johnson said that he traveled to Mexico about a week after the protest and when he returned, he was handcuffed when his name came up as armed and dangerous.
The ACLU web site has an interactive map display the 100-mile border area which they call “Constitution-Free” zones in which the Department of Homeland Security, apparently, reserves the right to stop and search any vehicles for any reason. They are apparently taking intelligence on American citizens, as well.
Gun deaths have declined in New York City, while killings involving knives have increased 50 percent. The issue isn’t guns or knives but people who use guns and knives.
I live just a few miles from the most pro-gun city in the United States – Kennesaw Georgia – where gun ownership is mandatory. It’s not the “Wild West” like some people predicted when it passed a mandatory gun ownership law. “The city of Kennesaw was selected by Family Circle magazine as one of the nation’s ‘10 best towns for families.’ The award was aimed at identifying the best communities nationally that combine big-city opportunities with suburban charm, a blend of affordable housing, good jobs, top-rated public schools, wide-open spaces, and less stress.”[1]
In 1982 the city passed the following ordinance [Sec 34-21] which was a response to a handgun ban in Morton Grove, Ill.
(a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.
(b) Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.
The city’s website states that Kennesaw “has the lowest crime rate in Cobb County,” one of the most populace counties in Georgia. In fact, from 1982 through 2009, Kennesaw had been nearly murder free with one murder occurring in 2007.
If you haven’t heard of the Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, you might not spend enough time online. But recent exposure of Marvel’s support for the bill has outraged fans across the internet on major comics news sites, blogs and forums and Twitter, calling for retaliation against The House of Ideas.
I understand why Marvel would support the bill. First, and most importantly, being an owned subsidiary of The House of Mouse (Disney/ABC/ESPN, etc) they now have to toe the corporate line. Second, comics are incredibly pirated products. Just doing a search on major bit torrent sites and you can. . . .well, pretty much download most every major Marvel comic from the last 70 years and fit it on a large external hard drive. That’s pretty terrible if you think about it. And, let’s be fair- DC is pro-SOPA as well, at least inasmuch as they are a part of the larger Time Warner family of corporations.
Let me state again, for the record, that we at BSR are ANTI-piracy. We are pro-comics, and piracy is a major problem with the industry today, just as with all entertainment media. We respect the rights of creators who put their genius into delivering greatness into our hands every week, every month, and respect their rights to get paid. We even point you to some of our favorites in the realm of digital comics– one of which, I would like to point out, is about Marvel digital comics on sale. We love comics, we are anti-piracy and pro-digital distribution. Absolutely.
But, just as categorically I can state that SOPA will not help one bit. The bill will allow any person to make a claim against a website (say BigShinyRobot. . . or Google. . . or YouTube. . .or Flikr) that it is hosting copyrighted materials, and without an investigation, without a warrant, without any probable cause– just a complaint– the host ISP has to shut the ENTIRE SITE down. Take, for example, the image I’ve used to in this post. This is one of my favorite comic book covers from books I collected when I was younger. I’ve added the “This is what Wolverine does to Pirates” which makes my use of this image fall under “fair use.” But if someone were to complain, they could– and shut down the entire site without any adjudication by any legal authority. Not only does SOPA violate basic principles of due process, it uses a nuclear bomb to strike at a gnat.

The Catholic Church is having a devil of a time searching for priests who can perform exorcisms.
In their effort to fight evil, Catholic bishops are holding a conference aimed at training clergy on how to perform the rite.
According to Bishop Thomas Paprocki, only five or six American priests know how to perform exorcisms, and they are finding themselves overwhelmed with requests.
“Actually, each diocese should have its own resource (person). It shouldn’t be that this burden should be placed on a priest when his responsibility is for his own diocese,” he told the Catholic News Service prior to the two-day conference that ends Saturday in Baltimore.
More than 50 bishops and 66 priests signed up to attend, The Associated Press reported.

TRENTON, N.J.—Official loyalist sources released news, today, that United Nations Peacekeepers stationed in Trenton, New Jersey were slaughtered in an attack by Tea Party terrorists who apparently crossed the Delaware river by night. Early reports indicate 22 of the Peacekeepers were killed and 98 wounded. The brave Colonel Johann Rall may have been wounded in the attack. It is said that the terrorist group was led by George Washington who calls himself a “General.” The Federal Emergency Management Agency has warned local constables against this wanted terrorist, as well as Thomas Jefferson and Paul Revere.
Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (R-7th, Tennessee) has submitted a bill, “To direct the Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security (Transportation Security Administration) to prohibit certain employees of the Transportation Security Administration from using the title of `officer’ and from wearing uniforms and carrying badges resembling those of law enforcement officers.”
The short H.R. 3608, the ‘Stop TSA’s Reach In Policy Act’ or the ‘STRIP Act’ would direct the Assistant Director of Homeland Security to prohibit Transportation Security Administration personnel from wearing metal badges resembling police badges and uniforms that make them appear to be federal officers. They would not even be allowed to use the term “officer.”
She voted forH.R. 1540—the House version of S. 1867, NDAA—which many allege would allow the military to round up American citizens against any of the many wars the government is involving us in and place them in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba or a number of foreign prisons. In the Senate version, Sections 1301 and 1302—which have become known as the “indefinite detention articles”—do not exempt U.S. citizens from imprisonment without trial while most of the other provisions do. New policy. Homeland Security. You will not pick up anymore illegal aliens from the Sheriff’s office. You will do it for other agencies, but not the Sheriff’s office. … I’m not going to stop enforcing the illegal immigration laws.—Sheriff Joe Arpaio
PHOENIX – The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday night that ICE refused to take custody of 10 admitted illegal immigrants — 2 of whom are children.
The subjects allegedly told deputies they were in the country illegally and were on their way to New York.
When deputies contacted ICE to turn them over, they reportedly refused. MCSO contacted Border Patrol, which agreed to take custody.
However, deputies have to drive the subjects down to Casa Grande.
The pending Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) (H.R. 3261) continues to inspire opponents to come up with creative solutions to circumvent it.
A new anti-SOPA add-on for Firefox, titled “DeSopa,” is such a counter measure.
When installed, users can click a single button to resolve a blocked domain via foreign DNS servers, bypassing all domestic DNS blockades and allowing the user to browse the site though the bare IP-address (if supported).
“I feel that the general public is not aware of the gravity of SOPA and Congress seems like they are about to cater to the special interests involved, to the detriment of Internet, for which I and many others live and breathe,” DeSopa developer T Rizk told TorrentFreak.
Edinburg, Texas – On Monday, Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies arrested an illegal alien after a shooting at Betty Harwell Middle School left two students injured.
According to Sheriff Lupe Treviño, stray bullets hit two teenage boys who were attending tryouts for the school’s basketball team. The suspect was discovered in the woods just north of the school, reportedly armed with an AR-15 assault rifle.
The man is alleged to have been illegally hunting on private lands.
Pro-illegal immigration extremist groups including ‘Nuestros Reconquistos’, ‘ake Back Aztlán’, and the ‘Aztlánian Brotherhood’ met on December 4th to plan a movement called “Occupy Aztlán,” scheduled to begin in January.
They plan to start in Phoenix and expand operations to all southwestern American states which they consider part of ‘Aztlan’. ‘Aztlan’ referes to the southwestern American states, which were sparsely populated by a handful of indian tribes and the occasional rancher or missionary when they came under American control over 150 years ago. Today, they include America’s 2 largest states, California and Texas, along with Arizona and New Mexico. Usually Utah, Colorado, and Nevada are also claimed as part of ‘Aztlan’, and sometimes even Oregon, Idaho, Nebraska, or Oklahoma.
A national organization that promotes separation between church and state is urging officials in a New Jersey town to remove a “Keep Christ in Christmas” banner from a main thoroughfare.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation, a nonprofit Wisconsin-based group, says the banner, which was paid for by a local Knights of Columbus chapter, violates the Constitution because it was posted by members of the town’s fire department. It also hangs from two town-owned light posts over Broadway in Pitman, N.J., according to Andrew Seidel, the group’s constitutional consultant.
“We got a complaint from a local resident who has to drive down that street every day,” Seidel told FoxNews.com on Wednesday. “He sees that sign and he feels like an outsider because of it.”
Seidel said the complaint was from a local man who wishes to remain anonymous.
Are you ready? Your government wants to know. Why? During Katrina, FEMA was rounding up private food, generators and other items from citizens who stored them becoming guilty of significant Fourth and Ninth Amendment violations of the Bill of Rights. Now the Oath Keepers learned that they spit on the Fourth, again, by targeting the organization that provides foods for emergencies by taking a fishing trip through their records. It is no secret that the Supreme Court has twisted the Fourth Amendment far afield from what the “founding fathers” intended. But, at least, they say that police powers have to have reasonable cause to believe that a crime has been committed to conduct a search. That is why TSA searches are unconstitutional. Wanting to fly is not reasonable cause to believe that a four-year old girl needs to be fondled in public.
Oath Keepers has learned that federal agents recently visited a Latter Day Saints (Mormon) Church food storage cannery in Tennessee, demanding customer lists, wanting to know the identity of Americans who are purchasing food storage from the Mormons.
This incident was confirmed, in person, by Oath Keepers Tennessee Chapter President, Rand Cardwell. Here is Rand’s report:
“A fellow veteran contacted me concerning a new and disturbing development. He had been utilizing a Mormon cannery near his home to purchase bulk food supplies. The man that manages the facility relayed to him that federal agents had visited the facility and demanded a list of individuals that had been purchasing bulk food. The manager informed the agents that the facility kept no such records and that all transactions were conducted on a cash-and-carry basis. The agents pressed for any record of personal checks, credit card transactions, etc., but the manager could provide no such record. The agents appeared to become very agitated and after several minutes of questioning finally left with no information. I contacted the manager and personally confirmed this information.
The web site of Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has a section that is raising eyebrows. The YouCut pages allow you to vote on what program you believe should be cut.
Dead trees litter the forests providing fuel wood for fires.
One of the programs would terminate “environmental literacy” programs run by the Forest Service. These include “Green Schools” which “empowers students to lead the movement of sustainability and environmental responsibility at school, at home and in their community.” This means, of course, indoctrinating kids that wildlife killing windmills will save the polar bears from global warming. The savings of cutting this program would be and estimated $50 million over ten years.
Another cut in this area that might be suggested is cutting the locks that close forest roads so people can cut fuel wood that lays on the ground in the form of dead trees. The Constitution does not allow the federal government to keep citizens of a State out of their forests and off of their roads.
Some are concerned within the forest service that cutting this program might cause Smokey the Bear and Woodsy Owl to get the pink slip. It seems that these two legendary logos will serve to represent America more than ever.
Another program under fire that could save $18 million over ten years is a program that gives bonuses to States to recruit people into the food stamp program. The Department of Agriculture’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly known as the Food Stamp program) pays state governments bonuses for recruiting additional people to sign up for food stamps. Each year, states with the highest percentage of eligible participants enrolled in the program split $12 million in bonus funds. Additionally, the Department awards another $6 million in bonus money to states that are the fastest at signing up new program applicants. As of August, 2011, nearly 46 million Americans were on food stamps, or 15 percent of the population. Benefit costs were over $71 billion between September of 2010 and August of 2011. Program participation has grown steadily since the economic downturn began, and increased by 8 percent in 2011. There is no need to pay states for increasing the number of food stamp recipients they enroll in the program. This could be why Arizona gives food stamps based on race with the lowest rates going to elderly white women who only qualify for about $16 a month after spending their whole life paying the taxes for this program.
Another section of the web site gives you the status on various cutting legislation in Congress.

The Senate last night codified into law the power of the U.S. military to indefinitely detain an American citizen with no charge, no trial and no oversight whatsoever with the passage of S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act.
One amendment that would have specifically blocked the measures from being used against U.S. citizens was voted down and the final bill was passed 93-7.
Another amendment introduced by Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein that attempted to bar the provision from being used on American soil, an effort to ensure “the military won’t be roaming our streets looking for suspected terrorists,” also failed, although Feinstein voted in favor of the bill anyway.
The Patient’s Affordable Health Care act was pushed hard by the Unions. In fact, they pushed for $1500 in fines for you not having health care instead of the $75 a year mandated by this horrible legislation. Because of their push, you would think that unions would be laying on an operating table or easing back in a dentist chair to enjoy the fruits of their labors.
You might still see that, but it has nothing to do with this so-called health care law. You see, they are exempt from the act, as are Congressmen and their staffs. That is, the union bosses are exempt.
Why would they ensure a provision which allows Obama to exempt them? There is, also, a “Cadillac health care” provision in the plan, as well. What that means is that if you can afford a health care plan that pays all expenses and maybe a stipend for the time you loose from work, you will have to pay the government “taxes” on that plan. Union Bosses are exempt from that.
While researching other things, I found the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation web site. They had a list of other abuses sanctioned by the courts such as the legal ability to commit violence on individuals. They are obviously also exempt from the War on Terror.
