Americans buy record numbers of guns for Christmas

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

Kind of makes sense since the Justice Department supplied guns to the Mexican drug cartel.

Americans bought record numbers of guns last month amid an apparent surge in popularity for weapons as Christmas presents.

According to the FBI, over 1.5 million background checks on customers were requested by gun dealers to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System in December. Nearly 500,000 of those were in the six days before Christmas.

It was the highest number ever in a single month, surpassing the previous record set in November.

Support for Second Amendment at Record High

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
October 27, 2011

It’s bad news for gun-grabbers and other enemies of the Second Amendment – only 26% of respondents to a recent poll believe the government should ban handguns.

The poll is part of Gallup’s annual Crime poll, conducted Oct. 6-9. This year’s poll finds support for a number of gun-control measures at historical lows, including the ban on handguns, which is Gallup’s longest continuing gun-control trend, according to their website.

Gallup notes that the acceptance of gun ownership is not related to crime.

“In 2008, Gallup found widespread agreement with the idea that the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right of Americans to own guns. Americans may also be moving toward more libertarian views in some areas, one example of which is greater support for legalizing marijuana use,” Gallup reports.

Democrats Oppose Obama-U.N. Gun Control Treaty

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

By Paul Bedard
Posted: July 26, 2011

Twelve Democratic senators have joined 45 Republicans in a fast growing movement to halt progress on an Obama-backed United Nations effort that could bring international gun control into the United States and slap America’s gun owners with severe restrictions.

[Read more about gun rights and gun control.]

Montana Democratic Sen. Jon Tester’s office today provided Whispers with their letter, signed by 11 other Democrats, urging the president to press for significant changes in the treaty. Their major concern: that domestic manufacture, possession, and sales of firearms and ammo will be included, thereby giving an international authority the right to regulate arms sales already protected by the Second Amendment. They also said any move for an international gun registry would be a non-starter. [See editorial cartoons about the Democrats.]

A Republican letter circulated by Kansas Republican Sen. Jerry Moran has 45 signatures.

Ratification requires two-thirds of the Senate. So far 57 senators have said they would vote against the treaty, expected to be wrapped up next year.

In his letter, Moran wrote, “Our country’s sovereignty and the Second Amendment rights of American citizens must not be infringed upon by the United Nations,” Moran wrote in the letter. “Today, the Senate sends a powerful message to the Obama Administration: an Arms Trade Treaty that does not protect ownership of civilian firearms will fail in the Senate. Our firearm freedoms are not negotiable.”

Police abuse in Ohio

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

Generally speaking, you probably won’t see this in Arizona except, perhaps, for Phoenix and Tuscon. This “officer” has violated several rights including “judging” that a “citizen” should not judge on the scene. The officer, also, did not advise the person of his rights.

For Arizona citizens, non-felons are allowed to carry a concealed weapon in Arizona without a permit. YOU MUST, however, INFORM AN OFFICER IF HE STOPS YOU THAT YOU ARE CARRYING. He may HOLD THE WEAPON FOR THE DURATION OF THE STOP. Most police and sheriff’s deputies in Arizona will allow you the time to tell them.

I don’t know about Ohio, but it doesn’t seem legal to threaten to “execute” a citizen. Obviously innocent until proven guilty (in a court of law) means nothing in Canton.

There is little argument that the job is dangerous especially at night. When the police, however, who are supposed to be in control get out of hand, we have a problem.

One thing I might point out to victims of these crimes is to shut up. The only thing that you should say after being handcuffed is “I want to see a lawyer.”

New gun rules, of course, unconstitutional

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

Bloomberg is reporting that new administration rules have gun dealers ONLY in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas reporting anyone who purchases two or more semi-automatic weapons with detachable clips to the ATF.

You know, the guys that sold guns to the drug cartel in Mexico.

Since all federal gun regulations are unconstitutional—according to Senators Feinstein and Schumer—we don’t need to go there.

According to FOX News,

“In an effort to stem the illicit flow of weapons into Mexico, the Justice Department announced Monday that all gun shops in four Southwest border states will be required to alert the federal government to frequent buyers of high-powered rifles.

Under the new policy, federal firearms licensees in Texas, California, Arizona and New Mexico must report purchases of two or more of some types of rifles by the same person in a five-day span. The requirement applies to purchases of semi-automatic rifles that have detachable magazines and a caliber of greater than .22.

ATF estimates it will generate 18,000 reports a year. ATF will retain the information and if no investigative leads have been realized after two years, it will be purged.”

Just like TSA, ATF is now authorized to database information on gun owners without evidence of a crime and without a search warrant. They will hold this profiling effort on gun owners for two years after which, “…it will be purged.”

Not only is that a lie, it’s unconstitutional, as well. The Fourth Amendment protects you against unreasonable searches and seizures. Now they will have an absolute list of gun owners from which to work.

The next step, of course, is to have retail outlets report when you purchase two or more light bulbs within a five-day period.

The Real problem with the GunWalking scandal

Friday, July 8th, 2011

In an article entitled “GunWalker” at the III Percent Patriots blog, Kerodin III wrote an article beginning with, “Most of you know I rarely comment of GunWalker because I consider it a useless Sparklie.”

In the article, he writes, “Consider: Every ATF Agent who let guns walk, who let Americans purchase firearms without interference, whether they knew it or not, were following 2A.” His article contends that those who are beating the drum against the ATF are actually working against the Second Amendment.

Allow me to start by pointing out a few things. Kerodin III is probably not his real name. Liberals like to cry See! He didn’t even use his real name! I only point this out because it shows their ignorance to their own history. The Federalist and Anti-Federalist used pseudonyms when arguing whether or not the Constitution should even be adopted. Kerodin III is simply following his founding father’s example and using a pseudonym does not distract one iota from his opinion. In addition, I understand the principle of the “3-percenters,” and respect their opinions.

In this case, however, I must respectfully disagree with this writer.

We must understand what the “GunWalking” scandal is really all about. We first heard about it when we heard how Arizona gun dealers were delivering fully-automatic weapons by the truckloads to the drug cartel in Mexico City. Or so the Obama administration would have you believe. Now we learn the truth. Gun dealers in Arizona were told to sell the weapons to known illegal buyers by the ATF. Those same gun dealers were vilified by that very agency. To this day the Mexican government and lame stream media perpetrates this farce every time a bust is made.

Mexican lawmakers want to extradite U.S. officials over ‘Operation Fast and Furious’ scandal

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Yet they still come out and cite the “gun dealers” in Arizona who “sold” these weapons across the border. Bunch of hypocrites!

Guns sold to drug cartel by YOUR government.

Obama has said neither he nor Attorney General Eric Holder had approved the operation and that “appropriate actions” would be taken after the investigation is complete.

Mexican lawmakers said Tuesday they want the U.S. officials who authorized a botched campaign to dismantle illicit firearms trafficking routes to face trial in Mexico.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) “Operation Fast and Furious” sold thousands of assault rifles and revolvers to traffickers suspected of being linked to Mexican drug cartels.

The operation’s goal was to unearth and dismantle illicit firearms trafficking routes between the U.S. and Mexico by tracking the weapons, but officials poorly monitored their movement and the majority of the weapons went missing.

1- “Guns Save Lives” Censorship Opposed — in Court

The lamestream media told you:

The city of Phoenix has censored 50 ads for the educational program of a local gun-safety training association, TrainMeAZ.com. We oppose censorship in all its forms.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

Although the “news” media steadfastly censors news about firearms, self-defense cases, new firearm products, the shooting sports and basically anything that confirms that guns are good, save lives, stop crime, and help keep America free — the media is intolerant of censorship by government, and in this case it’s a good thing.

On May 11, the The Goldwater Institute’s Scharf-Norton Center for Constitutional Litigation filed a free-speech lawsuit against Phoenix. The city has until the end of the month to respond, seek a dismissal or default in the case. Experts agree the city faces serious hurdles, but it now looks like they will object to the suit, moving the case along. The city changed its rules for bus-shelter advertising in March, after the censorship occured, but the new rules are pretty much just as vague as before, pose similar violations of free-speech guarantees and will not affect the suit. The new city rules for limiting speech in public are posted here, along with full background on the case:

Obama working on gun control “under the radar.”

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

On March 30, the 30th anniversary of the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan, Jim Brady, who sustained a debilitating head wound in the attack, and his wife, Sarah, came to Capitol Hill to push for a ban on the controversial “large magazines.” Brady, for whom the law requiring background checks on handgun purchasers is named, then met with White House press secretary Jay Carney. During the meeting, President Obama dropped in and, according to Sarah Brady, brought up the issue of gun control, “to fill us in that it was very much on his agenda,” she said.

“I just want you to know that we are working on it,” Brady recalled the president telling them. “We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”

Opponents of Gun-Free Zones at Universities Find Unlikely Hero in Nevada Woman

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

April 8, 2011—Across the country, lawmakers are debating whether universities should let students and faculty with permits carry their concealed weapon on campus. Those who want to put an end to such gun-free zones have found an unlikely hero in a petite, soft spoken, young woman who wonders why colleges protect most Constitutional rights, but not the one that matters most when staring into the face of a violent criminal.

Amanda Collins, 25, is a wife and new mom, and a concealed weapon permit holder for years. At her father’s law office in Reno, she showed us the 9-mm Glock she carries for her safety.

“It’s got a pretty standard magazine,” she said, “and night sights so you can see in the dark when you’re aiming.”

Why did the press ignore murderous rampage just outside nation’s capital?

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

On February 10, 2011, Prince William County police arrested Jose Oswaldo Reyes Alfaro, 37, after he allegedly went on a shooting and stabbing spree which left three people dead and three others wounded. When he was taken into custody, the Salvadoran national had in his possession, a machete as well as a .38 caliber revolver.

The two separate attacks occurred only a few blocks apart.

The list of victims follows:

The Hood Road attack:

-Brenda Ashcraft, 56, pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds

-William Ashbey Ashcroft, 37, died in route to the hospital

-34-year-old woman, gunshot wound, survived

Kawliforna admits gun control does not work.

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

Sen. Lou Correa of Santa Ana, voted for a Galgiani bill last year prohibiting the carrying of even unloaded firearms in the state Capitol. (Don Kelsen / Los Angeles Times)

The Guardian reports that California politicians are demanding the right to carry concealed weapons and have submitted legislation on the matter.

“Politicians in California say their working lives are now so dangerous that they should be given special dispensation to carry concealed guns to their offices in order to protect themselves,” the article states.

The bill, SB 610, was introduced—now get this—by two Democrats and a Republican. And while peons must, apparently, show good cause to get a concealed carry permit, legislatures and congressmen need only get elected. California tax payers, as I read the bill, will have to pick up the tab for the cost of their concealed carry permit.

The bill is submitted in response to the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords in Tuscon in January.

The Guardian article adds, “Even in Arizona itself, where the Giffords shooting took place, there are 16 bills pending, most of which favour the gun owner rather than the potential victims of gun outrages.

“One potentially significant shift in the other direction is that President Barack Obama appears to be moving towards tightening gun controls by making background checks on purchasers more stringent.”

Wonder if—maybe, I don’t know—following the Constitution might put their lives at a little less risk.

Northern Arizona Shooting Range design receives unanimous approval

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

Game and Fish photo

PHOENIX —The Arizona Game and Fish Commission, today, unanimously approved the master site plan for the future Northern Arizona Shooting Range.

“Approval of the site design is a huge step towards filling the more than 40 year void for a designated shooting venue in Northern Arizona,” said Chief of Shooting Ranges for Game and Fish, Jay Cook.

The design approved reflects slight modifications from the draft presented to the public at the open house last week where more than 100 persons attended, providing 55 comments on the plan. Public input from that meeting resulted in increasing the archery range from 50 yards to 100 yards.

The other significant change was to the 800-yard long distance rifle range which is now oriented to true north with lateral safety and sound berming on each side of the range. Although more costly, these changes were made based on input from competitive long-range shooters and sound concerns from Walnut Canyon National Monument.
