“I don’t think there are words yet invented that could characterize the — I guess anger would be one word, but it’s a lot deeper than anger,” he told FoxNews.com this month. “Whatever the word is that’s a combination of anger, shock, disbelief, horror and a desire to expose all of this — that’s the word.
A man given seven years in prison after being found with two guns he purchased legally in Colorado has had his sentence commuted, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie announced Monday.
The case of Brian Aitken, 27, had become a cause célèbre among gun-rights advocates. On Jan. 2, 2009, Aitken, an entrepreneur and media consultant with no prior criminal record, muttered to his mother that life wasn’t worth living after a planned visit with son was abruptly canceled at the last minute. Aitken then left his mother’s home in Mount Laurel as she called police, who later found two locked and unloaded handguns in the trunk of his car.
Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news……..?
Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11-year-old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their Two-story home. It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay-shooting champion since she was nine.
EVERYTHING Brian Aitken was or had worked for was wiped away one winter afternoon after his mother called the police on him.
Separated from his wife, the entrepreneur and media consultant, now 27, had moved back home to New Jersey from Colorado toward the end of 2008 to be closer to their young son.
In between jobs, his well-oiled life was running ragged, and on Jan. 2, 2009, when his ex canceled his visit with their son, he became distraught, muttered something to his mother, and left his parents’ home in Mount Laurel, N.J.
“He said something that scared her, things that a guy will only say to his mom, like . . . ‘Life’s not worth living anymore,’ ” said Larry Aitken, Brian’s father.
Sue Aitken, a trained social worker, decided to play it safe and called police, but she hung up before the 9-1-1 dispatcher could answer. Police traced the call and showed up anyway, and found two handguns in the trunk of Brian’s car. And now Brian, her middle child, a graduate student with no prior criminal record, is serving a seven-year prison sentence for weapons charges. Sheriff Paul Babeu Says His Deputies Are Outgunned
PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. — Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said his deputies are outmanned and outgunned when it comes to battling drug cartels.
The Pinal County Justice Foundation is asking the public to donate money so that they can equip deputies with rifles.
Babeu said the guns purchased with donations would go to first responders. The sheriff said they need to raise $150,000.
A CBS 5 News investigation last November revealed the Mexican drug cartel relies heavily on smugglers from Arizona to stockpile their arsenal. That arsenal, officials said, is used in gun battles along the border.

Statistics now show that criminals will likely shoot themselves during a home invasion. Therefore, we should take guns away from criminals and stop making criminals out of citizens that protect their homes.
PHOENIX — One suspect wounded in an early morning home-invasion style robbery in West Phoenix is in custody, but four more are on the loose.
J.D. Hayworth is running ads using his wife to complain about John McCain attack ads. Perhaps he is training her in case he has to announce a law suit against a state.
The problem is that neither one of them truly represents a Republican form of government. While Hayworth arguably helped a company rip people off, John McCain approved of the Patriot act and the death of thousands of troop and the waste of billions—by some estimates a trillion, now—dollars in Afghanistan. A constitutional Republican would approve of neither. So much for John McCain’s “savings” on pork barrel spending.
The third candidate—whom Rasmussen Reports refers to as a “Tea Party Activist,” Jim Deakin—we will get a chance to learn about in the debates on July 16. Though there are some videos about him on youtube.com. According to the following video, Jim Deakin has made encouraging statements that he wants to end the Federal Reserve and the Department of Education allowing States to set up their own curriculum. With End the Fed day coming up in two days, I can certainly get behind that piece of his platform.
J.D. Hayworth’s statements at Tea Party meetings generally centers around how much he likes S.B. 1070 and not generally how he is going to stop big government—at least in the videos that I have seen. While he has experience in Washington, that experience was not really all that impressive.
A June 22 Rasmussen Reports poll shows McCain in the lead with 47%, Hayworth behind by 11 percent and Deakin receiving only 7%. This can probably be attributed to name recognition more than a result of critical thinking.
Deakin may be a viable third alternative if he expresses himself well in the debate. But I doubt they will cover the fact that all federal gun laws are unconstitutional1 or that the Federal Reserve, health care reform, Department of Education, Hate Crimes legislation, and so-forth, are all unconstitutional.
Chief Justice John Marshall (1833). Strong States' Rights proponent.
If you were watching the confirmation hearing of Elana Kagan, you would have seen Feinstein and Schumer announce with glee that the Supreme Court upheld the Second Amendment, once again, and reversed the gun laws in Illinois banning handguns.
The important thing is that, reading that decision, we find what this matter of incorporation was all about. Section II, B of the Opinion of the Court reads:
The Bill of Rights, including the Second Amendment, originally applied only to the Federal Government. In Barron ex rel. Tiernan v. Mayor of Baltimore, [32 US] 7 Pet. 243 (1833), the Court, in an opinion by Chief Justice Marshall, explained that this question was “of great importance” but “not of much difficulty.” Id., at 247. In less than four pages, the Court firmly rejected the proposition that the first eight Amendments operate as limitations on the States, holding that they apply only to the Federal Government
The public is divided over whether state and local governments should be able to pass laws banning the sale and possession of handguns. The Supreme Court is expected to rule in the next few months on the constitutionality of a 28-year-old Chicago law prohibiting handgun ownership in that city.
Half of the public (50%) says that state and local governments should not be able to pass laws barring the sale or possession of handguns in their jurisdictions, while 45% say they should be able to pass such laws.
Previous Pew Research surveys have found broad opposition to a law banning the sale of handguns. In April 2008, 59% said they opposed a law banning handguns while 36% favored such a law. There was less opposition to a law banning handgun sales in 2000 and the late 1990s. In March 2000, 47% opposed a law banning handgun sales while the same percentage favored it.
Plan to suspend sales tax on guns bought during the first weekend of October is part of a national trend.
CHARLESTON — West Virginia would suspend sales taxes on gun purchases during the first weekend of October under legislation that unanimously passed the state House of Delegates Feb. 26.
The Second Amendment Appreciation Act would mandate that the first weekend of every October become a sales tax holiday for gun purchases. The lead sponsor, Delegate Scott Varner, D-Marshall, said the holiday could actually bring in increased tax revenues, given that bargain-hunting shoppers likely will buy other things that are taxed.
(Reuters) – Powerful groups in the United States appear to be blocking efforts to stem the flow of assault weapons fueling Mexico’s drug war, Mexican President Felipe Calderon said in an interview broadcast on Sunday.
Calderon, who has deployed tens of thousands of soldiers and police to fight drug cartels, told Fareed Zakaria’s “GPS” program on CNN that there was resistance in Washington to Mexico’s demands that sales of such weapons be stopped. PHOENIX — Republican Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed into law a bill making Arizona the third state allowing people without a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
The bill she signed Friday afternoon takes effect 90 days after the current legislative session ends. That likely will put the effective date in July or August.
“I believe this legislation not only protects the Second Amendment rights of Arizona citizens, but restores those rights as well,” Brewer said in a statement.
Alaska and Vermont now do not require permits to carry concealed weapons.
By eliminating the permit requirement, the Arizona legislation will allow people 21 or older to forego background checks and classes that are now required.
Supporters say the bill promotes constitutional rights and allows people to protect themselves from criminals, while critics worry it will lead to more shootings as people with less training have fewer restrictions on carrying weapons.
PHOENIX (AP) – Gov. Jan Brewer is nearing the deadline to act on a bill that would make Arizona the third state to not require a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
The Legislature sent the bill to Brewer on Monday, setting a Saturday deadline for her to sign the bill, veto the legislation or allow it to become law without her signature.
