Persons born in foreign countries and residing here are aliens, and are not entitled to the political rights of persons born in this country. Laws, however, have been enacted for naturalizing aliens after they shall have resided here long enough to become acquainted with and attached to our government. At a time when many Americans can barely afford Burger King and a movie, Obama boasts of spending a billion dollars on his re-election campaign. Questioned at a recent appearance about the spiraling fuel costs, Obama said, “Get used to it” – and with an insouciant grin and chortle, he told another person at the event, who complained about the effect high fuel prices were having on his family, to “get a more fuel-efficient car.”

The former Western Coconino County Tea Party Patriots began meeting again on Monday March 14, led by Joyce Mechtley, to re-organize the group. The group meet informally to discuss various topics.

Joyce announced a general TEA Party meeting of various Arizona groups on Saturday in Prescott.

It was decided to change the name to the Williams Tea Party as that is what the Flagstaff group refers to them as. The group will still serve for members from Ash Fork, Valle and the surrounding area.

It was decided, also, that the meetings would be held the second Monday of each month. If the group grows to the extent of last year, a board will be selected and board meetings will be held from 6 to 7 pm. The general meeting will follow from 7 to 8:30 pm.

The group will also start a web site as soon as possible. The web site will be administered by Glen Davis. The web site address will most likely be williamsteaparty.com. The plan for the web site is to utilize blog software to make it easier for members to contribute to the site.

George Lockhart brought up the Spring Flower Ranch development and wondered if we could obtain the State growth plan. The Spring Flower Ranch was, apparently, a development planned in Parks which, so far, has suffered due to the economy.

John Lee brought up concerns about the Perrin Ranch wind farm project. Concerns are that the wind generators will not produce enough electricity to be profitable enough to sustain. Eventually, tax payers or APS customers will have to pay extra to keep them running as has happened in England.

There was, also, discussion concerning finding suitable candidates to replace Coconino County Supervisors and other officers.

(CBS/AP) If opponents of medical marijuana thought voters in Arizona would defeat Proposition 203, they must have been smoking something.

On Saturday, Arizonans narrowly approved the measure, which will legalize weed for people with certain diseases.

Final vote tallies showed that Prop 203 won by a tiny margin of just 4,341 votes out of more than 1.67 million votes counted.

PLEASE NOTE: We are continually updating this article as we find news until I get tired enough to go to bed.

Arizona is only barely fortunate that we are saddled with McCain for another six-years over Rodney Glassman. The overwhelming victory appears to be 59% to 35%. Libertarian David Nolan picked up 5%.

It looks like Gosar will take the seat in the House from Kirkpatrick. Currently 52% to 41%.

On the local front it appears that tax-and-spend Brewer wins out over sanctuary Terry in a closer race 56% to 41%. Apparently Barry Hess confused people in the Gubernatorial Debates by referring frequently to some old document.

Nationally, Fox News is reporting that Feingold was ousted and CNN reports Reid is gone, but Californians may still keep Boxer.

The House looks to be overwhelmingly Republican while they seem to be loosing the Senate.

Did you wear your Tea Shirt? I forgot my Don’t Tread on Me Ball cap. Sa la vie.

If there is any indicator in Williams as to the importance of this election, this is it. I had to wait for a voting booth to open up. I all of my voting over the years, I haven’t had to wait for a booth.

Proposition 113 had to be the most hypocritical of all of the initiatives. We were voting on whether or not union ballots should be secret. First off, unions are a communist construct inconsistent with the Constitution. Second, we were voting on whether their ballots should be secret while the ballot we were voting on is not. Coconino County can reconstruct how you voted. So I guess I’ll see you on Obama’s “enemy list” if you did not vote Democrat.

According to our about-as-scientific-as-ASU poll, Rodney Glassman will be our next Senator. I hope that is in error.

…Owens said she remains convinced that the T-shirt at issue does amount to improper electioneering. And Owens pointed out that the injunction she agreed to applies only to next month’s election — and only this particular shirt — with no legal ruling on what happens after that.

PHOENIX — A federal judge has ordered that Coconino County reisdents be allowed to wear tea party T-shirts when they vote next month.

But what happens elsewhere at polling places in Arizona remains in legal limbo. And it still leaves in question whether such attire is proper.

The order by U.S. District Court Judge James Teilborg specifically bars Coconino County Recorder Candace Owens or any of her election workerss from blocking Diane Wickberg from voting while attired in her shirt proclaiming “Flagstaff Tea Party — Reclaiming Our Constitution Now.” Anyone else with the same shirt also cannot be barred from going to vote on Nov. 2.

Diane Cohen, an attorney for the Goldwater Institute which represents Wickberg, said the injunction is a preliminary victory. She said the fact the ruling legally affects only Coconino County does not mean election officials elsewhere are free to impose their own election-day clothing decisions.

Affirmative action is unjust no matter what it is called: “quotas,” “diversity goals” or “race preferences.” Programs that treat people differently because of their skin color are discrimination and a violation of citizens’ civil rights, which belong to all people, whatever their race or gender. It is unjust when someone is shut out of a promotion because of a racial quota. Or when a worker’s construction firm loses a government contract because of his boss’ race. It is blatantly unfair when a student’s good grades can’t get her into college because she’s the wrong skin color – that’s just plain discrimination.

Word is reaching us via email that some have not received the ballot pamphlet from the government. This is not surprising. It can be downloaded from the Arizona Secretary of State web site. You can download it from our site here. We recommend that you right click the link and select Save Link As to your computer.

We, also, recommend that your read the wording carefully. Read all comments for and against. Make sure that you take the time to get to the polls. That is how Jan Brewer got the tax increase for Arizona, why businesses can no longer run their own affairs and why you should consider Barry Hess for governor.

The polls are open early in the morning to late in the evening. You can take the time to vote. You may think it does not matter if you vote. But it certainly does not matter if you do not vote. You are allowing others to dictate your life.

The new Democrat ad against Paul Gosar is very interesting in light of statements previously made by Democrats. The charge is that Gosar wants to “change” the Constitution by repealing the 17th amendment.

Change the Constitution? I believe that the 17th amendment “changed” the Constitution. Eliminating the 17th amendment would “restore” the Constitution. A Constitution which worked fine until April 8, 1913 when this amendment was adopted during the Wilson administration. Democrat Wilson is also the one who “changed” the Constitution by instituting the Federal Reserve system. The Federal Reserve system is a private cabal of bankers who now do the job of Congress under Article I, Section 8, Clauses 2 & 5 of the Constitution with NO OVERSIGHT by your elected representatives.

Commercial promotes troubled early childhood program

For the first time in its three-year history, the First Things First organization is running TV ads promoting what it does.

But the executive director of the state agency said the decision to spend more than $600,000 in tax dollars for the commercials has nothing to do with the fact that voters will decide in November whether to keep the program alive. Rhiann Allvin said state law makes “public information about the importance of early childhood development and health” one of the goals for the Arizona Early Childhood Development and Health Board, the formal name for the state agency.

And the timing? Allvin said it is unrelated to the fact that lawmakers voted earlier this year to put the existence of First Things Vote on the ballot.
