File-Sharing Recognized as Official Religion in Sweden

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

Since 2010 a group of self-confessed pirates have tried to get their beliefs recognized as an official religion in Sweden. After their request was denied several times, the Church of Kopimism – which holds CTRL+C and CTRL+V as sacred symbols – is now approved by the authorities as an official religion. The Church hopes that its official status will remove the legal stigma that surrounds file-sharing.

All around the world file-sharers are being chased by anti-piracy outfits and the authorities, and the situation in Sweden is no different. While copyright holders are often quick to label file-sharers as pirates, there is a large group of people who actually consider copying to be a sacred act.

Philosophy student Isak Gerson is such a religious file-sharer, and in an attempt to protect his unique belief system he founded The Missionary Church of Kopimism in 2010. In the hope that they could help prevent persecution for their beliefs, the Church then filed a request to be officially accepted by the authorities.

After two failed attempts, where the Church was asked to formalize its way of praying or meditation, the authorities finally recognized the organization as an official religion. The Church’s founder is ecstatic about this news, and hopes that it will motivate more people to come forward as ‘Kopimists’.

Americans buy record numbers of guns for Christmas

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

Kind of makes sense since the Justice Department supplied guns to the Mexican drug cartel.

Americans bought record numbers of guns last month amid an apparent surge in popularity for weapons as Christmas presents.

According to the FBI, over 1.5 million background checks on customers were requested by gun dealers to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System in December. Nearly 500,000 of those were in the six days before Christmas.

It was the highest number ever in a single month, surpassing the previous record set in November.

Bolivia Set to Pass Historic ‘Law of Mother Earth’ Which Will Grant Nature Equal Rights to Humans

Friday, December 30th, 2011

With the cooperation of politicians and grassroots organizations, Bolivia is set to pass the Law of Mother Earth which will grant nature the same rights and protections as humans. The piece of legislation, called la Ley de Derechos de la Madre Tierra, is intended to encourage a radical shift in conservation attitudes and actions, to enforce new control measures on industry, and to reduce environmental destruction.

The law redefines natural resources as blessings and confers the same rights to nature as to human beings, including: the right to life and to exist; the right to continue vital cycles and processes free from human alteration; the right to pure water and clean air; the right to balance; the right not to be polluted; and the right to not have cellular structure modified or genetically altered. Perhaps the most controversial point is the right “to not be affected by mega-infrastructure and development projects that affect the balance of ecosystems and the local inhabitant communities”.

In late 2005 Bolivia elected its first indigenous president, Evo Morales. Morales is an outspoken champion for environmental protection, petitioning for substantive change within his country and at the United Nations. Bolivia, one of South America’s poorest countries, has long had to contend with the consequences of destructive industrial practices and climate change, but despite the best efforts of Morales and members of his administration, their concerns have largely been ignored at the UN.

Three American victims in Mexico

Saturday, December 24th, 2011

(CNN) — Three of the seven victims of a highway attack this week in the Mexican state of Veracruz were American citizens, officials said.

A mother and her two daughters, dual Mexican-U.S. citizens who lived in Fort Worth, Texas, were aboard one of three buses that were attacked by gunmen in the city of Panuco, in the northern part of Veracruz.

“We express our deepest condolences to their family and friends during this difficult time,” State Department spokeswoman Neda Brown said.

A Mexican official in the state of Hidalgo, the hometown of the mother, identified the Americans as Maria Sanchez Hernandez and her two daughters, Karla, 19, and Cristina, 13.

Prince Charles joins campaign to save Transylvania’s forests

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

…because of his family connections to ‘Count Dracula’

Prince Charles is campaigning to save the forests of Transylvania, inspired by his ancestral links to Vlad the Impaler, the 15th century nobleman better known by his patronym, Dracula.

Rapid economic growth in Romania – which is now part of the EU – means that the forests of the Carpathian Mountains are under threat from development and logging.

The Prince is calling for the forests, some of the last untouched wilderness areas in Europe, to be protected before they are lost, like the woodland that once covered Britain.

Man and woman are stereotypes.

Monday, June 27th, 2011

And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

At the Egalia preschool, in the Sodermalm district of Stockholm, Sweden, however, they are just “friends.” This taxpayer funded preschool carefully engineers toys and choice of books to prevent stereotypes.

Now a man and a woman are stereotypes?

“Society expects girls to be girlie, nice and pretty and boys to be manly, rough and outgoing,” says Jenny Johnsson, a 31-year-old teacher. “Egalia gives them a fantastic opportunity to be whoever they want to be.”

The schools director Lotta Rajalin fosters and environment of tolerance by placing books about homosexual couples, single parents and adopted children in the library. There are no traditional children’s books that provoke the imagination, only books that teach deviate behavior.

Social engineering (aka mind control) at any age is sick. If you believe this will not make its way to the United States, you should probably check out the books used in your schools a little more carefully. You can combat this trend by becoming involved and asking your kids questions not asked in the text books and teaching them to think for themselves.

BUSTED: Chinese Officials Exaggerated The Speed Of Their Vaunted High Speed Trains

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

In January, Chinese Railways Minister Liu Zhijun claimed that the Shanghai-Beijing high speed rail link would cut the 10 hour trip between the two cities in half. He also claimed that Chinese made trains set to run on the link tested at speeds reaching 300 mph.

In 2003 Liu urged officials to make trains faster and, “Seize the opportunity, build more railways, and build them fast.”

That was before Liu was sacked on suspicions of corruption in February. And, of course, it was before today, when one of his Deputy Ministers, Zhou Yimin, revealed that claims that the trains could run at a constant speed of 217 mph were greatly exaggerated.

Prominent Swiss Politician Calls For Arrest of Kissinger at Bilderberg

Saturday, June 11th, 2011

Paul Joseph Watson | Infowars.com | June 6, 2011

A prominent member of Switzerland’s largest political party has called upon federal authorities to arrest Henry Kissinger as a war criminal if he attends the 2011 Bilderberg conference of global power brokers which is set to begin on Thursday at the Hotel Suvretta House in St. Moritz.

Swiss People’s Party representative Dominique Baettig wrote a letter to the General Prosecutor of the Swiss Federation in which he asked, “In the name of Cantonal Sovereignty and independence, but especially of the Justice’s independence from executive power – may it be Federal or Cantonal – I ask you to check abroad for Arrest Warrants delivered by various Courts, Judges and also for all valid criminal complaints against the persons who were, amongst others, cited as mere examples in my (enclosed) letters to Mrs. Simonetta Sommaruga, Federal Counselor and Mrs. Barbara Janom Steiner, Cantonal Counselor and of course, to arrest them before diligent extraditions.”

Baettig is no fringe figure, he’s the equivalent of a US Congressman, representing the Canton of Jura on the National Council of Switzerland. His party, the Swiss People’s Party, is the largest party in the Federal Assembly, with 58 members of the National Council and 6 of the Council of States.

DDT is safe: just ask the professor who ate it for 40 years

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

By Terence Kealey 12:00AM BST 19 Jul 2001
From the Telegraph

THE World Health Organisation, Greenpeace, the World Wildlife Fund, the UN environmental programme and its development programme, USAID, and almost all the other international representatives of the great and the good now campaign against DDT.

But, perversely, the Third World still uses it. To those who believe that America under George W Bush and his gas-guzzling, permafrost-drilling accomplices is the source of all global pollution, this Third World defection is disappointing. Where are the virtuous blacks when we need them?

DDT was introduced as an insecticide during the 1940s. In Churchill’s words: “The excellent DDT powder has been found to yield astonishing results against insects of all kinds, from lice to mosquitoes.”

And astonishing they were. DDT was particularly effective against the anopheles mosquito, which is the carrier of malaria, and people once hoped that DDT would eradicate malaria worldwide. Consider Sri Lanka. In 1946, it had three million cases, but the introduction of DDT reduced the numbers, by 1964, to only 29. In India, the numbers of malaria cases fell from 75 million to around 50,000.

Chinese take a lesson from US Government: Use Hollywood.

Friday, May 27th, 2011

January/February 2011—Well, it seems that there is one thing we have found that China cannot manufacture. A movie with a good dogfight scene. China State run television ran a story concerning their air force firing a weapon and blowing up a Top Gun prop.

The Wall Street Journal ran a video showing the scenes from the news report and movie side-by-side. CCTV did not comment on the video but removed it from its web site.

Puberty blocker for children considering sex change

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

[This is in England, but one wonders if this will be covered by Obamacare?]

Children as young as 12 are to be allowed drugs to block puberty while they decide whether to have a sex change, it has been revealed.

The monthly injection suspends the onset of adulthood so that young people confused about their gender can be sure of any decision before they take on too many masculine or feminine features.

Supporters say that the “window” prevents a great deal of mental and physical anguish caused by the maturing of sex organs, facial hair growth and changes in the voice.

But critics argue it only prolongs the agony and can prevent people “growing out” of any feelings of confusion.

Man in mask steals Euros while the real Obama steals dollas.

Friday, April 1st, 2011

One would hope to come up with a great April Fools joke for today, but we didn't have to. We just added to this.

Upper Austrian police have arrested a man who is suspected of robbing more than half a dozen banks wearing a Barack Obama mask.

It was discovered that it was a man in a mask when police questioned the staff of the White House and found that all saw Obama in the White House stealing U.S. dollars during the times of the crimes in Austria.

Police officers caught the suspect hiding in woodlands in Vöcklabruck district after a bank robbery in the small town of Fornach yesterday afternoon (Thurs). The man, who is in custody, is accused of being behind yesterday’s robbery and six more bank heists in the region in the past two years.

Around 80,000 Euros were stolen in the incidents overall by a man sporting a plastic carnival mask depicting US President Barack Obama.

The robber had hoped to get away and no change was found.

Officials announced today that the man who was arrested yesterday is a German citizen. It is not clear yet whether he is responsible for all Obama mask robberies.

Border battle over illegal immigration shifts to beaches

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

Reporting from Ensenada—The immigrants heard the engine slow as the pilot steered through breakers. Twelve hours earlier, they had shoved off from a beach near Ensenada. Now, they were bobbing off Red Beach at Camp Pendleton. Out in the darkness, California beckoned.

“Jump out!” barked the pilot.

The 17 immigrants climbed over the side of the rickety boat, stumbling and splashing their way through the surf where U.S. Marines usually charge ashore in armored vehicles during amphibious assault exercises.

“I couldn’t run because I had been sitting in the boat for so long,” said Maribel Ruiz. “But the pilot kept yelling, ‘Run! Run! Run!’ It was terrible.”

The fatally flawed logic of a no-fly zone

Friday, March 25th, 2011

President Obama now seems to support a no-fly zone over Libya, but another US military intervention can only bring ruin

Much to his detriment, President Obama has been sitting on the fence regarding the Libyan civil war. The president should have had the courage of his convictions to say that although his sympathies and the sympathies of the American people are with those Libyans who desire freedom, human rights and democracy, this is a fight that only Libyans can win. Unfortunately, if Thursday’s statement from US Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice is any indication, Obama has caved to misguided and poorly thought-out arguments for direct intervention.

It is not in the national interest of the United States to institute a no-fly zone. Although a former administration official criticised the president for prioritising oil over human rights, this is not about oil; it is about sensibility and moral hazard. Many of the same people championing intervention in Libya – Senators Lieberman, Kerry and McCain, to name but three – also advocated for the Iraq war. Remember how that turned out? They thought that intervention would be as easy as apple pie; nothing could go wrong, they argued.
